Midlife

Mid-life by Joe Ollmann  174 pp.

Ollmann has written a graphic novel version of a man's mid life crisis. 40 year old John is dealing with two grown daughters who still have resentment for his divorce of their mother and his new young wife and infant son. He is sleep deprived from the baby and it's affecting his marriage, his job, and his relationship with his daughters and is causing him to resent his new young son. He feels like everything is falling apart. Enter Sherry Smalls, a rock star wanna-be and Raffi-like performer of children's songs and John is suddenly in the midst of a schoolboy crush. When she answers his email with an offer to meet, he is suddenly faced with a situation he really doesn't know how to handle. The story is is an amusing, sad, and honest look at parts of life many people face.
