Dear Harry, Love Bess

Dear Harry, Love Bess: Bess Truman's letters to Harry Truman, 1919-1943/Clifton Truman Daniel 271 pgs.

Bess Truman made an effort to burn all of her letters to Harry but she missed a few. Considering the incredible number of them, it is not surprising that a few got away from her. Harry and Bess were a devoted couple and both wrote a lot. They also spent some time apart while Harry attended his annual National Guard training and then after he was elected to the Senate. Some of these letters are mundane and deal with the daily lives of two busy people. Some of the topic include mailing slippers, the weather, the daily chores...but they are rich in the details of the time and the relationship of the writers. I still love anything Truman and this book was a joy to read.
