Eggs over Evie by Alison Jackson 215 pages
What a yummy book! Evie is trying to survive her parent's divorce. Her dad, a celebrity cook, moved out of the house and into a condo with his young editor. When he left her with her mom, he took the family dog and family photos. Evie has a hard time forgiving him and relating to his girl friend who is now expecting twins. Evie wants to learn how to cook and signs up for a summer cooking class. She is assigned a partner, who is the nephew of the cooking teacher. The yummy part art the recipes-- each chapter has a heavenly sounding recipe. While this is a trend in adult novels, I have never seen so many recipes in a kid's novel. I feel tempted to buy my own copy just to have these recipes: biscuits, lemon meringue pie, homemade pizza, monterey chicken and lots more. The relationships in this book may be a bit messy -- but not the recipes!
