Doodlebug: A Novel in Doodles by Karen Romano Young 99 pages
Girls, your wait is over. If you have been pining for A Wimpy Female Kid, this book's for you. Dodo' s family is moving and she thinks that it may be because she got in trouble at her last school. She knows she has ADHD, and has found her own "pillless" solution: doodling. She christens herself "Doodlebug", but gets seriously upset when a couple of the teachers insist that their classrooms are no doodling zones. Told in journal and graphic design, this should appeal to sister's of Wimpy Kid readers. Readers will discover empathy for the ADHD plight and cheer her well-deserved victory due to her well-executed plan. This is also a good read for siblings of kids with special needs. It is also a shout out to teachers who recognize the need for a multitude of teaching styles.
