Grounded by Kate Klise 193 pages
Very offbeat story. Daralynn loses her brother, father and sister in a plane crash. Well wishers send her 237 dolls and give her a new name, Dolly. Her mother caught up in grief starts a new career, beautician at the local mortuary. Mom has a poor relationship with Daralynn's aunt and hasn't caught the signs that her mom has early stages Alzheimer's Disease. When her job is threatened by talk of a big new crematorium opening up in town, Daralynn has a brainstorm. She creates a new sideline: Living Funerals -- plan your farewell party to be enjoyed before you pass on!! Set in Missouri (the author lives in the Ozarks), this book is an original.
