Y: The Last Man: Cycles/Brian K. Vaughan
Y: The Last Man: Cycles by Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, vol 2); graphic novel, science fiction, dystopia; 128 pages
Yorick Brown, the last man left alive on earth, sets off across the country, guarded by one secret agent and a scientist who specializes in cloning. They're trying to get to the doctor's backup lab in California, but they're also running from the Daughters of the Amazon, a gang of militant, man-hating women who are bent on finishing off the Y chromosome for good.
I continued to like this series. I was worried that the the Amazons might get a little old after a while, but Vaughan does a great job of making them seem lie victims of their leader's crazy ideas, rather than standard villains. We also get to see Hero, Yorick's missing sister, a lot more in this volume, which leads to some high-quality drama towards the end.
