Breathing in the Dark by Howard Schwartz
Breathing in the Dark by Howard Schwartz, Poetry, 91 pages.
Howard Schwartz, best known for his many award winning books of Jewish tales and stories, Leaves from the Garden of Eden, and Tree of Souls: The Mythology of Judaism, among them, is also a poet of great depth and beauty. This, his latest book, has magic and glory within its covers. Family members, neighbors, and friends of the poet share the page with the ghosts of Kafka, and Mississippi John Hurt, and the lost tribes of Israel. Hearing Howard read the poems is a treat not to be missed. He brings them all to life, their dream-like quality sharp, and strangely familiar, with hints of a world beyond or behind this one. A great choice for National Poetry Month.
