Shortcut Man: a novel/P.G. Sturges 209 pgs.I ended up liking Dick Henry, the shortcut man from the title. He is a guy who likes to "help" people like when your contractor messes up the repairs, he will wade through the problem without resulting in a lawsuit...he'll just go beat the contractors ass for you until he pays up. Simple really. Nobody has anything to fear unless they are out ripping people off or taking advantage of someone. Of course, a guy like Dick Henry has a few foibles of his own. A former public servant, he has a lot of contacts and resources. He also might get involved with some less than upstanding citizens. When he gets hired by a movie maker who wants to know if his wife is cheating on him, he is surprised to find that the "wife" is his current girlfriend, a beautiful woman who claims to be a flight attendant. Things get kind of interesting from there. The ending is a little too much like "Get Shorty" but overall an entertaining tale.
