Y: The Last Man: Ring of Truth/Brian K. Vaughan

Y: The Last Man: Ring of Truth by Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, vol. 5); graphic novel, science fiction, dystopia; 192 pages

This volume was a huge improvement over the disappointment of volume four. There are three story arcs collected here, but the major one is the title story: Remember way back in volume one, when all the men died? There were a number of possible causes for the disaster, and a few for why Yorick and Ampersand survived as well--most notably, the "magic" ring Yorick had recently purchased as an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Beth. In this volume, we get to see just how much magic is in that ring, and find out the true reason Yorick still lives. We also get to see his sister Hero again, and her own story is pretty fascinating. Oh, and did I mention the ninja? I planned to just read a few chapters of this before bed, and wound up staying up into the wee hours to finish it.
