Highway Robbery/Kate Thompson
Highway Robbery by Kate Thompson; historical fiction; 128 pages
Our unnamed narrator for this yarn is a street urchin in 1700's London. He's minding his own business one day when a dashing stranger rides up on a beautiful black mare, and asks the boy to watch the horse while he's away, with the promise of a hefty reward. I won't go into too much about the details, because it's better to just let the story unfold at its own pace (which is pretty quick). Who knew so much could happen from holding a horse for a few hours? Very fun, with a great voice for the narrator, and of course, a twist at the end.
