Most Wanted/Kate Thompson
Most Wanted by Kate Thompson; children's, historical fiction, adventure; 132 pages
After reading Thompson's excellent Highway Robbery, I was pleased to learn that she had another title in the same vein. This book is the story of a young boy in Imperial Rome, who has grown up under the rule of the mad Emperor Caligula. In this Rome, Caligula didn't just threaten to make his horse a consul--he actually did it! And our narrator gets caught up in a crazy adventure trying to keep both of them alive in the wake the emperor's death. It's a fast-paced story, and lots of fun. The twist at the end doesn't pack quite the same punch as in the previous book, but it's similar enough to be worth reading. Highly recommended!
