Reversal by Michael Connelly 389 pages
Harry Bosch and Maggie McPhearson join Mickey Haller on the prosecution side of the court room as a special prosecutor for L. A. County. After 24 years, Jason Jessup’s conviction is overturned by the state supreme court because of DNA evidence discovered by the defense. DNA testing was not available in 1986 for the first trial of Jessup for abducting and murdering a 12 year old girl. Michael Connelly weaves his story through evidence recovered and witnesses interviewed long ago. Mickey is a defense attorney trying to look at the case from a prosecutor’s angle. Maggie is a prosecutor, Mickey’s ex-wife and very distrustful of Mickey putting forward his best efforts. Harry is Mickey’s half brother and a cop for 35 years with a cop’s distrust of defense attorneys. As he follows the 24 year old evidence, Harry consults an FBI profiler and finds a different twist to the story. As usual, Connelly keeps the story moving and stays just one step ahead of the reader allowing glimpses of what is to come but throwing a few unexpected twists that keep you looking for more.
