Great House / Nicole Krauss 289 p.

Not as nice as History of Love, but I enjoyed this nevertheless. A dreamy and admittedly, confusing, story about, of all things, a desk which makes its way among owners and continents by mysterious means. All those who possess the desk are profoundly impacted by it. The novel (and desk) tie together 4 separate narrative threads. At different times the desk seems symbolic, a stand-in for talent, creativity, memory or love. At other times it seems to have its own life - a material object which will outlive everyone who touches it. What does it all mean? Please, read the book and tell me!
