The Real Macaw by Donna Andrews (a Meg Langslow mystery, #12). 309 p.
Another gently humorous mystery featuring Meg Langslow's huge supporting cast of family and friends. This time she's trying to juggle her young twin sons, a visiting 5-year-old, a house full of rescued-from-the-shelter animals, and a murder. My only complaint is that, with such a large cast, most of the familiar characters only get very brief appearances. I particularly miss Michael, Meg's husband, who's been reduced to being Mr. Perfect at all times and basically just popping up to say "Yes dear" and do whatever Meg needs to have done. Oh well, these are still charming books. I suspect one of the plot threads here will run into the next couple of books, too, which could be interesting.
