The Reinvention of Moxie Roosevelt by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel 248 pages

Moxie heads off to an elite boarding school, not because her family is rich and has been attending it for generations, but because she lives in a small town that does not have a high school and she is somewhat of a piano prodigy. With a name like Moxie Roosevelt Kipper, she has a lot of angst about her image and decides this is a perfect time to re-create herself. Unfortunately, she doesn't know exactly what kind of a persona she really wants, so she creates several identities to fit with the new friends she makes. She keeps a journal to try to keep the stories she spins about herself from spirally out of control. Before long she finds herself committed to perform in the new student talent show as both a stand-up comedienne and a pianist. A sub-plot about the "enemy" she makes is a bit muddy. All in all, a sweet going to a new school story with several interesting students and teachers.
