Zora and me by Victoria Bond 169 pages

This is the fictionalized account of Zora Neale Hurston as could be written by a best childhood friend. Carrie writes of times in Eatonville, Florida. Even as a young girl, Zora loved to stretch a story so it was hard to know what was truth and what was Zora's imagination. Zora takes the fact, a finding of a young man's body and embroiders it into a monster story about a shape-shifting alligator man. This could be an intro into one of the most important African-American female writers.
