Green Witch by Alice Hoffman 135 pages

More of a novella than full formed book, this spoke to me of the sad anniversary of 9/11, although it is actually a sequel to Green Angel (2003). Lyrically narrated, it is the story of Green's life a year after her family and town were destroyed by the Horde, a group that hates modern invention of any kind. Green is just beginning to reach out to other people and connecting with survivors. After planting a garden, she begins to write stories. This leads to a quest, first to gain existential answers about life and then to break out the Horde's prisoners. Beautifully written.
