Brightly woven by Alexandra Bracken 354 pages

Another fantasy... Sydelle is whisked away from her desert village the day after a deluge causes much damage and destruction. She is taken by a young wizard, Wayland to be his assistant. She is not sure what she can do besides repair his clothes with her loom. She is oblivious of her terrible gifts that can cause killing weather forces. Her talent makes her a valuable pawn in a game for power between several rulers. Her feelings for Wayland are ambivalent; she is drawn to him, but sometimes he seems to treat her as his property. The ending is a bit rushed. This is a pretty good debut novel for readers who like a little magic and a little romance.
