Skywalkers / David Weitzman

Skywalkers: Mohawk ironworkers build the city by David Weitzman. 124 p.

This is a very simple overview of the Mohawk nation's history, how they become involved with ironworking, and of ironworking itself. The explanations of various aspects of bridge- and skyscraper-building are probably really simple too, but they were the right level of detail for me (from which you may gather, correctly, that I was a liberal arts major). I was particularly impressed with the description of riveting back in the day--it took a team of five men 2 1/2 minutes per rivet. I'm amazed any of those giant 19th-century bridges ever got finished.
