Goliath by Scott Westerfeld (last book of the Leviathan trilogy). 543 p.
In this final volume, Deryn & Alek end up visiting Russia, America, and (briefly) Mexico; meet Hearst and Tesla; and Alek finally figures out Deryn's secret. I particularly enjoyed how Westerfeld tied in the Tunguska event, and the bits we get to see of the Russian fighting bears were pretty cool. I wish Alek had evolved a bit farther away from being a prat, but overall this was a good ending to the series, and it had some marvelous setpieces. It also really, really makes me want to read an actual biography of Nikola Tesla....
