Life with Mr. Dangerous/Paul Hornschemeier 158 pgs.
Amy is in her mid twenties and her life doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Her love life sucks, her job sucks, and she is sustained by watching her favorite cartoon on TV. She and her mom get together for dinner or lunch but the mom seems to be Amy's future. She is divorced and doesn't like her job either but seems pretty stoic about her situation. Amy's 26th birthday seems to be a turning point. She gets a gift from her best friend (with whom she is secretly in love), she gets a date that propels her to be honest about her feeling for aforementioned best friend, and their is an incident at work where she stands up for a coworker and ends up in a conference with her manager that also yields a bit of a compliment. The story ends as she is arriving in Portland to visit the friend/love interest and things seem to be looking up. I really enjoyed the art work in this book but the story moved a little slow for me. Still, I will seek out more work from the author and freely admit I picked this one up based on the cute cat on the cover.
