Demon Fish

Demon Fish:  travels through the hidden world of sharks/ Juliet Eilperin 306 pgs.

If you like sharks, you will love this book...but seriously, it is more than about sharks...it talks a lot about the ocean as an environment and how humans are affecting it through pollution, over fishing and climate change.  Sharks have been around for awhile and seem to adapt to just about anything except people dragging them onto boats, cutting off their fins and tossing them overboard, still alive but with no chance to live.  Do that for several tons of fins per month and the sharks start disappearing.  When the sharks disappear, the rest of the system goes out of whack.  We have seen this over and over again.  The book does end on a high note and talks about many places where things are getting better.  Now if we can just get the Chinese off shark fin soup there may be hope.
