Carl Hiaasen always creates interesting and quirky characters and this book is no different. Jack Tagger is a journalist that has been busted down to obit writer. He becomes obsessed with his own mortality and struggles to get his mother to tell him when his father (who abandoned him shortly after birth) died. All of this is the backdrop for a murder mystery and the revival (in pop culture) of a defunct rock band...and of course there is a little bit of lust that might have turned to love.
