Poop Happened! A History of the World from the Bottom Up by Sarah Albee, 170 pages
This book was surprisingly fun to read. Full of short sections and graphics, the book details the history of waste management (or lack thereof) from prehistoric times through today, and includes a lot of information about the diseases brought on or exacerbated by poor hygiene. There's also a lot of info about the horrible, horrible jobs related to poop over the years. I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy this book, but it was pretty cool. A great way to present the history of the world to a 13-year-old boy, or someone with that sense of humor.
P.S. For your own sake, don't do a Google image search for this book. Ew.
