Ready Player One by Ernest Cline 374 pgs.
I think this book erases any doubt that the 80's were the best years to grow up. Ok, maybe I have a bit of a bias. Wade is our window into the future and not surprisingly, things don't look all that bright. The world is in a bit of a mess but much of the human race is able to live in a virtual reality world that brings a lot or relief. Then the creator dies and leave a challenge. Basically whoever can solve the puzzle he has put in place (a video game really) inherits his significant fortune. As you can guess, there are quite a few people working towards this and at least one evil corporation. Very interesting book and so many 80's references, I felt at home.
