How They Croaked: The Awful ends of the awfully famous by Georgia Bragg and illustrated by Kevin O'Malley 161 pages
Colorful non-fiction writing certain to engage young male readers. Five famous females (from Cleopatra to Marie Curie) and fourteen illustrious male movers and shakers (starting with King Tut and ending with Einstein) make up this attractive collective biography. While these people came from different time periods, continents and claims to fame they all shared somewhat grotesque endings. Bragg does not shy away from the topic, going into details Poor King Tut's burial rites as well as his several "modern" autopsies, or sharing what happened to Einstein's great brain. Plenty of yuck factors will make this memorable reading! The most "fun" collective biography I have read since Kathleen Krull's biography series for young readers.
