The first book in this trilogy was a bit odd for me to read because I know something about Nora Roberts. The town in which the story is set, Boonsboro, is where the author actually lives. The b&b that the male characters are rehabbing, and the bookstore that the female lead runs, are actually businesses that Ms Roberts and her husband own and run. It was just a little disconcerting.
The book itself was fine, if not a particular standout. The ghost who haunts the inn was mostly low-key enough not to annoy me. The characters are generally fun without being outstandingly memorable in any way. That said, the clumsy deus (ghost?) ex machina at the end was truly annoying. Still, I enjoyed this more than her previous series (in which the women were all wedding planners, which bored me rigid) and will certainly pick up the other volumes when they come out.
