Football Hero by Tim Green 297 pages

Another football story by Tim Green. (For more information about Tim, look at previous blog.)
This is a less believable Cinderella story. After Ty's parents are killed in an accident, he is sent to live with his evil guardian, Uncle Gus. Uncle Gus tries to prevent Ti from joining the middle school football team by making him clean toilets for his cleaning business. Ti's big brother is Thane "Tiger" Lewis, college football star and likely first round draft pick for the NFL. Uncle Gus prefers drinking and gambling to cleaning. His underworld connection learns about Ti's connection to the NFL. Telling Ti that he would like information for his fantasy football team, Uncle Gus reluctantly allows Ti to play football in exchange for inside information that will allow him an illegal advantage when gambling. The gritty betting story is interesting -- less so is the depiction of his naive brother who allows his new star salary to go to his head. A marginal read.
