Moses, Man of the Mountain by Zora Neale Hurston, 313 pages
Hurston wrote this retelling of Exodus in the late 1930s, when a whole heck of a lot was going on in the world (Great Depression, the beginnings of World War II, just to name a couple). As someone who didn't grow up knowing the story of Exodus, this retelling was an illumination of both the Biblical story and the era in which it was written. An interesting read.
