I guess it is no surprise that a lot of what we do to preserver our health is an effort to keep the brain healthy. There really is no disconnect between a healthy "rest of the body" and the brain but this book really reveals how much damage we are doing to our brain when we don't take care of ourselves. Daniel Amen is a brain expert and this book goes far to demonstrate positive actions we can take to help our brains function better and avoid future problems like dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Even if you haven't been taking care of your brain by, for example, playing football or boxing, it isn't too late to make changes that will have a positive effect. One of the most interesting chapters in this book is about treating current and retired NFL players and the positive improvements that can be made by implementing Amen's suggestions. Very encouraging stuff. This book also gives you something to think about when it comes to overall mental health and the relationship to physical health.
