Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman
Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman, 117 pages, Juvenile fiction.
A really nice story, read by Gaiman on the audio, that starts out looking grim, with young Odd's father dying, and then his leg getting crushed by a falling tree. Once Odd meets with the talking fox, bear, and eagle though, things start to look a bit better for him. A fun story that my kids really enjoyed.
