Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders by Neil Gaiman 388 pp.
This was a re-read for me. We listened to the audiobook verstion (read by the author) while on a road trip. Even my 94 year old mother enjoyed this odd collection of stories and poems most of which had be published in other forms before being collected into one volume. My favorite part of the audiobook, however was listening to Gaiman read his commentary about each of the stories. I had forgotten that "The Facts in the Case of the Departure of Miss Finch" was in this collection. I recently blogged about the graphic novel version of this story. I'm not sure I have a favorite story in this collection. It might be the musician in me that makes the tale of a mediocre bass player in "Good Boys Deserve Favors" one I really liked. "Pages from a journal found in a shoebox left in a Greyhound bus somewhere between Tulsa, Oklahoma and Louisville, Kentucky" is worth reading just for the title alone. If you are a Gaiman fan you will like this collection. If not, you may still like some of what he offers in this volume.
