Lair of the Bat Monster by Ursula Vernon 204 pp.
This is the fourth book in the Dragonbreath series about little Danny Dragonbreath and his iguana friend, Wendell. In this episode Danny finds an injured bat and his mother sends him to Cousin Steve who just happens to be studying bats in Mexico. Cousin Steve takes Danny and Wendell to see the bat caves where he does his research and tells them about the Zapotec bat god named Camazotz. Since Danny is one of those kids who always ends up in some kind of trouble, he is captured by the Camazotz and mayhem ensues. The book also contains quite a bit of information about different species of bats. I don't know if all of the humor in the story is understood by the targeted age group but I find this series to be a lot of fun.
