I think I've discovered the key to funny books...get the ones by actual writers (Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling), not just comedians who may be hilarious performing but may not be able to actually write. In keeping with this theory, Mindy Kaling has a hit here. She is hilarious, accepting and seems so incredibly normal. Maybe it has something to do with being the offspring of immigrant professionals but there was no need for any drama or craziness in high school...she was too busy studying. Love the family stories, love the post college time in New York stories and love the insights into romance, men vs. boys and what she finds funny. This is good stuff.
