The Wild Kingdom starring Glen Ganges by Kevin Huizenga 108 pp.
While it is written by a St. Louisan, this is not the story of Marlin Perkins or Mutual of Omaha there are references to both in this odd little graphic satire. It is, however, a quirky look at encounters with nature in an urban/suburban setting. In this case nature is pigeons, squirrels, beetles, pet cats, Walt Whitman, etc. One episode about a pigeon in the street being narrowly missed by cars was very timely since I'd had a similar encounter with a robin fledgling just the other day. Others were just confusing. And the one about the chain reaction that began with a hawk electrocuted on a power line which ended in an asteroid destroying Earth was a priceless bit of black humor. It's a very very light read.
