This is my pick as best audiobook I listened to this year.
Elizabeth McGovern (favorite actress of Downton Abbey) breathes life and soul
into this historical fiction novel. Fifteen year old Louise Brooks is leaving
Wichita for the Big Apple and she needs a chaperone. The chaperone she gets,
Cora has a complicated back story and a hidden agenda. There are several
subplots that touch on racism and homophobia but the search for one’s identity
predominates. Richly drawn characters are fleshed out.
