Angel's Gate: A Shortcut Man Novel by P. G. Sturges. 355 pages.
Dick Henry, the Shortcut Man, is back in the third installment of this series. Dick tries to be clever, insightful, witty, great with the ladies, etc. He's a pretty good character, in a pretty good series of books. There needs to be a little something in the next book, cuz this one felt a little tired. The plot involves a movie producer who likes to keep a stable of clueless starlet-wannabes, his right-hand man and doer of dirty deeds, a sleazy doctor, and the woman charged with keeping the the producer's starlets happy. A long-ago murder linked to the recent murder of screenwriter turned crazy homeless guy has Dick trying to untie the knotted mess.
Like I said, pretty good.
