One of the Grail Quest series, that feature Thomas Hookton, it follows Archer and Vagabond. Thomas Hookton, in France with the English forces, is one of the feared and hated archers. He is sent off with his own small force and a nobleman nominally in command. Their task is to seed the Holy Grail, rumored to have been hidden in Thomas's family home in Gascony. Imbued with a great sense of the time and the place, as with most of Cornwell's books, the details and the fighting make the book. The main characters are well-drawn, but the supporting players tend to be one-dimensional. A fun read.
