Bone

Bone: The Complete Cartoon Epic in One Volume by Jeff Smith, 1332 pages

At the start of this epic tale, three bone creatures (the honorable Fone Bone, the con artist Phoney Bone, and the easygoing Smiley Bone) have been run out of their hometown and stumble into a valley filled with ravenous rat creatures, a possibly helpful dragon, and a menacing Locust spirit that's threatening to destroy everyone in its path. The simple farm girl Thorn and her cow-racing grandmother take in the Bones, but there's more to them than meets the eye.

This is a great, sweeping story, perfect for readers of all ages. Highly recommended, though you may want to read it in the individual volumes rather than the behemoth I checked out, if only for arm fatigue purposes.
