The Fangirl's Guide to the Galaxy: A Handbook for Geek Girls by Sam Maggs, 207 pages
There are some among us women who are obsessed over particular TV shows, book series, and/or comic book characters. There are those who call us fangirls, and this book is our guide to safely traveling the internets (including how to deal with those nasty trolls), surviving (and thriving!) at conventions, and, most importantly, finding other women who share our obsessive love with fictional worlds. Maggs presents a good primer on being the best fangirl you can be, punctuated by geeky humor and supplemented by short insights from famous fangirls. I particularly enjoyed the fangirl glossary, and the list of websites, books, and TV shows that I need to check out to find more strong female characters. Well done, Ms. Maggs!
