After reading The Chaperone and loving it, I had more questions about Louise Brooks. Louise is featured in The Chaperone as a fictional character but the character is clearly based on the real Louise and is historically accurate as far as her activities during the time period. After reading the Louise Brooks Wikipedia entry, I found out she had a second career as a writer and was well regarded. This book is a collection of her essays, mostly talking about how distaste for Hollywood but also talking about some of the people she worked with during her acting career. Louise was a very outspoken person and harbored many radical ideas for her time. Reading her own words about her experiences and ideas was great and I enjoyed filling in the "fictional" Louise.
