Obama: An Intimate Portrait by Pete Souza, 349 pages
For Barack Obama's full eight years as president, Pete Souza served as official White House photographer. While in years past this role was relegated to staid grip-and-grin portraits during speeches or meeting dignitaries, Souza was allowed unprecedented access to Obama, attending top security meetings in the Oval Office and Situation Room, visiting the White House Residence, going on family vacations, and basically sticking to the president like glue. While Souza took millions of frames of photos during those eight years, this book collects more than 350 images that show the highs, lows, tears, and giggles of the Obama presidency. It's a wonderful collection, and reading it gave me the warm fuzzies for days gone by.
