All the Rivers by Dorit Rabinyan, 264 pages.
While Iraeli-born Liat is studying in New York on a Fulbright Scholarship she meets Himli, a Palestinian artist, through a mutual friend. They begin a passionate affair that is constantly undercut by her awareness that her family would never accept this relationship. A compelling read with interesting characters, and a story that is heightened by Liat's awareness that her attitude towards Himli is what will be most problematic in their future.
