Bless Me, Father

Bless Me, Father by Neil Boyd  160 pp.

This book and the others in the series are the basis for the Britcom by the same name. Neil Boyd is the pseudonym of Peter De Rosa, a former curate, who also wrote the television series. Father Neil is fresh out of seminary and is sent to St. Jude's parish as a curate to learn the ropes from cantankerous and scheming Father Duddleswell. The books are set in the 1950s when England was still recovering from WWII. There is amusing banter between Fr. Duddleswell and his sharp tongued housekeeper, Mrs. Pring who tries to keep the old priest in line. By the end of the book Fr. Boyd is learning his way around his duties while always being surprised by the old priest's antics. It's an amusing book and easily worth the 99 cents it cost for a Kindle copy.
