Siege and Storm
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, 435 pages
Alina's a super-powerful Grisha, able to summon and control sunlight like no other. She's on the run from the mysterious Darkling, attempting to salvage the remains of her homeland with the help of her faithful friend/boyfriend Mal and, oddly, apirate privateer and his motley crew. This is a great follow-up to Shadow and Bone, and certainly answers some of the questions I had at the end of that volume. The story sucked me in, and I can't wait to see what Bardugo throws at us in the third book. Too bad I have to wait a year for that one.
