The Fifth Woman/Henning Mankell 423 pgs.
Kurt Wallander is aging. His father with whom he recently took a trip with and feels very close to passes away sort of unexpectedly. He was old but hadn't been in bad health except for a few signs of dementia. The loss of his father hits Kurt hard. But soon there is a bizarre murder for him to focus on. Then another...then...what is going on? A serial killer? How are these crimes linked? Wallander goes into full detective mode and we see him at work.
It is never the crimes or the resolution of same that make these books good. It is seeing what is going on in Kurt Wallander's brain that keeps me coming back. I listened to the audio version of this book and appreciate hearing the correct pronunciation of various Swedish names and places.
