Maddie and her best friend talk about things like any friends do. What do you most fear? What are your dreams? What is your secret mission. Well, that last one isn't entirely normal but it is WWII and they are in the thick of it. Maddie is a pilot and her friend is involved in other things. It is difficult to say too much about hte plot without giving away something that Maddie and her friend would be able to keep secret. You don't always know where this book is going but when it gets there, it is pretty great. Impressive.
