HHhH by Laurent Binet
Reinhard Heydrich was possibly the most dangerous man in Hitler's cabinet. He was devoted to the development of the "final solution" and ruled over Czechoslovakia with an iron fist. A plan is hatched to assassinate Heydrich and a couple of young soldiers are given the mission. They parachute into their homeland after training in England and start planning their attack. This is almost certainly a suicide mission but they come pretty close to escaping. This novel is based on historical events and, although I had a hard time getting into it at first, at one point I could not put it down.
