An
earlier collection of short stories by the author of The Newlyweds. Like the
latter, they are all set in Southeast Asia or India, an area the author seems
to know well. A bit “New Yorker-ish” on
the whole, and the last story, “Letter from the Last Bastion,” was the
strongest. 225 pp.
