Marcello in the Real World by Francisco Stork p. 320
Marcello is a seventeen year old boy with high functioning autism. He attends Paterson, a school for people with special needs, and he's happy there. He is supposed to start a job there in the summer taking care of the horses and he is very excited. However, his father, Arturo, has other plans for him. He wants him to come work at his law firm in the mail room to get some experience being around "normal" people. He feels Marcello needs real world experience. He wants Marcello to attend a regular high in the fall, but he tells Marcello that if he comes and works at the law firm and is successful, he can choose the school he will attend in the fall. Marcello begins work and is getting through it the best he can when he is faced with a dilemma. He has to decide what choice is right and who will be hurt by this choice.
